BIOGRAPHIC - MY STORY
I was born in Nummi Finland in 1974. As a horse girl I was always surrounded by nature's influences. My dream was to become an illustrator of fairytales. I have studied sculpture, drawing, ceramics, metalwork and graphic design. Metal seemed very interesting material and I needed more challenge.
I went to Lahti Institute of Design to study jewellery and design. After graduation I had opportunity to work for prestigious finnish jewellery companies; Kalevala Koru and Kaunis Koru. I continued studies in University of Art and Design Helsinki. As Master of Art diploma work I held an exhibition in the atelier home of the world renowned architect Eliel Saarinen at Hvitträsk.
In 2003 I established own company to retail jewellery collections. I started to design ceramics for Kultakeramiikka and jewellery for Moment! Gallery. I have worked for luxurious Swedish jewellery brand of Efva Attling Stockholm for four years.
In summer 2006 I had a scholarship for working in an artist residence in Brooklyn, New York. It was inspirational time for me to design my own jewellery collections.
My new challenge is to design christmas ornaments for Weiste. Weiste is over 80 years old wellknown family owned company. In german they say that ornaments are jewellery for the trees ("baum smycken"), What a coincindence. Who could design jewellery for the trees better than a real jewellery designer? My designs are coming out in 2008.In summer 2009 I had opportunity for working in an artist residence in Marais, Paris. I love Paris.
